Diagnostic Laparoscopy - a procedure where the physician
will make a small incisions in the abdomen, insert a small scope and
examine the abdomen and the reproductive organs to determine the
cause of conditions such as severe pelvic pain, infertility, ectopic
(tubal) pregnancy and ovarian cysts. |

Endometrial Ablation - a procedure that can be an
alternative procedure to a hysterectomy for women who suffer from
heavy or prolonged periods. The procedure involves removing the
lining of the uterus (endometrium), which is the source for
bleeding. This procedure uses hysteroscopy to view the uterine and a
laser or balloon to remove the endometrium. |

Hysterectomy - is the removal of the uterus through an
abdominal incision, through the vagina or using a laparoscope
inserted into the abdomen to view the internal organs while removing
the uterus through the vagina. (Laparoscopically Assisted Vaginal
Hysterectomy - LAVH). A total hysterectomy may also include removal
of the ovaries and/or fallopian tubes. |

Hysteroscopy - a procedure that uses a hysteroscope to
look inside the uterus. This procedure can help diagnose the cause
of abnormal bleeding, infertility, fibroid tumors, polyps, and
displaced IUDS. |

Loop
electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) is an outpatient procedure used to remove pre-cancer
cells in the cervix. The instrument is a fine metal loop that has
electric current passing through it, used to burn the suspect
tissue. The electric current helps reduce the bleeding, thus
resulting in faster healing. |

Myomectomy - is the surgical removal of fibroids from
the uterine muscle without hysterectomy. |

Operative Hysteroscopy
- is the use of a hysteroscope during hysteroscopy to remove uterine
adhesions or fibroids. |
